Who Is Kathleen Callanan?

Kathleen Callanan - Author holding one of her books that she wroteKathleen J. Callanan, Genetic Genealogy Consultant and Author is the owner of KJC Web, an internet consulting business since 2001. She is a retired electrical engineer 1963 – 1995, a former Maryknoll Sister of St. Dominic 1966-1979. and a graduate of the University of Michigan, the University of Hawaii and the St. Joseph Institute for Japanese Studies, Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan. Ms. Callanan is currently a lecturer on DNA and genetic genealogy techniques.

During her active engineering career she co-authored several technical papers on integrated circuit device development and had the distinction of being one of the first foreigners to deliver a technical presentation, in Japanese, before the Japan Physical Society at Nagoya, Japan. Within the engineering community, she was elected to the College of Fellows, Society of Women Engineers, by her peers for contributions to engineering and the promotion of engineering as a career for women.

 

Memberships

Ms. Callanan holds life memberships in the Society of Women Engineers, The Association of Old Crows, The Quarter Century Wireless Association, The American Radio Relay League under W8KKM, and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

 

After Retirement

After retiring from The Boeing Company in 1995, she settled in southwest Florida, becoming an elder care giver for her mother. Time together with family presented a perfect opportunity for exploring the richness of her early Colonial New England heritage and becoming active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Lee County Genealogical Society.
